Within the field of mentalism, chips possess a distinct and deeply rooted lineage, and their value extends far beyond visual sleight-of-hand effects. The core of the mentalism chip lies in seamlessly integrating mind reading, prediction, and psychological forces into an everyday object, leading spectators through seemingly completely free decisions toward a single inevitable outcome. Some mentalism chips require neither electronics nor complex psychology; relying solely on the prop’s construction, they can accomplish the classic Which Hand effect and, through verbal guidance, extend into a variety of mentalism predictions, such as Soleil, Totem, and other signature works.

I’m delighted that Lucky Chip is finally available. I have used this chip in real-world performances for nearly three years, and after multiple design revisions and updates, it is now ready to share.

Why design this chip? There are other magic chips on the market, and they are undoubtedly iconic pieces that have stood the test of real-world performance. Perhaps because I’m rather lazy and don’t like carrying extra items, I kept researching and thinking: could I design a mentalism chip that can force any card, do more than just Which Hand, is easier to frame thematically for audiences, and requires simpler verbal guidance? Starting from this goal—from hand-drawn sketches to renderings to the finished physical prop—I was very fortunate during the creative process to develop a new force technique, and ultimately Lucky Chip, matching my vision, was born. Lucky Chip is a truly portable EDC magic prop. In the form of a chip, it can force any card, predict the playing card a spectator “freely chooses,” and perform Which Hand; in the end, all of the spectator’s choices have already been predicted on the chip. The chip itself contains no moving mechanisms and no electronic components, and can be freely examined by spectators. Using the chip’s design, a playing card can be forced with simple verbal scripting. No extra accessories and no cumbersome guidance are required to effortlessly perform Which Hand and prediction effects. Its portability makes it an essential remedy for home, travel, impromptu, and everyday magic.
