Was the magician’s “mistake” intentional, or did it really happen by accident?

8 of Diamonds — then loses it fairly back into the deck and shuffles thoroughly.
The magician attempts to locate the card using what appears to be mental telepathy.
Awkwardly, the card the magician finds is
not the spectator’s selected card.
Just as the audience assumes the trick has failed, the magician calmly says “No problem.”
The magician holds up the “wrong” card, and a second card
slowly visualizes on its back!
That’s right — it is the exact card the spectator chose!
No cover or concealment is needed at any point.
