A mind-bending fusion of spectator free choice, impossible card reconstruction, and a layered prediction that culminates in a jaw-dropping finale. This routine gives the spectator full control while you remain one step ahead.

$\text{The Effect}$

You begin by introducing sixteen special $\text{red}$-backed card fragments. Each piece is half of a playing card, horizontally sliced. You hand these fragments to the spectator to shuffle.

Next, you introduce three $\text{blue}$-backed cards as your multi-part prediction, setting them aside where they are in full view.

$\text{Phase 1: The Matrix of Chaos}$

1. The 16 spectator-shuffled fragments are arranged one by one into a $4\times 4$ $\text{Matrix}$ on the table.

2. You begin by casually flipping a few of the cards face-up or face-down, setting the stage for the chaos.

3. You establish a simple set of four rules for rotating the rows and columns.

4. The spectator is then given complete control to call out the numbers $1,2,3,\text{or }4$ repeatedly. Each choice leads to a different complex rotation, fully randomizing the card orientations and faces across the entire matrix.

2. The Second Prediction: The final cards are separated and paired up. You take the second $\text{blue}$-backed card, which predicts the reconstruction of a complete card. You place the first pair together—they perfectly form a single, whole card!

3. The $\text{Impossible}\text{ Finale}$: You pick up the last pair of fragments. To the spectator's confusion, these two pieces DO NOT match. Just when the audience thinks you've failed, you smile and turn over the third $\text{blue}$-backed card. The final prediction is a single card face that perfectly matches the bizarre, mismatching combination of the two fragments!
